Stress Management Article
So You Wanna Manage Stress Do You?This stress management article aims to focus attention on what stress really is, what we are really managing, and why it is such a BIG, BIG deal. As we go through this stress management article we will learn what causes stress and where it is stored and point you in a direction to start to do something about it.How is stress created? It is created by enough pressure being applied in a manner that would cause something to break, i.e. a stick or a tree limb that, with enough pressure applied, will break. The result of applied pressure is what we call stress. An interesting side note is, if the pressure is not resisted there is no build up that we label stress. No resistance equals; no stress. How unbearable stress is created in the human body: It is created in the human body by the learning of resistance. Resistance is created by the mechanism of personal judgments, i.e. this is good, this is bad, this is right, this is wrong, it shouldn't be this way.As My Grampa Vetter used to say, "All pain and suffering is due to resistance of what is." According to Dr. Bruce Lipton and a few Noble prize laureates, the results of these judgments put pressure on the cells in our body causing them to go into the fight, flight or freeze syndrome (the cells close up). When this happen our immune system is cut in half. With our immune system cut in half we are more susceptible to every illness, malaise, disease, big or small, from headaches, colds to cancer or HIV, it is all due to our immune system working at half power or less. The CDC - Center for Disease Control and prevention says 85% and Dr. Bruce Lipton of Stanford says 95% of all sickness, illness and disease are caused by stress. So I guess my Grampa Vetter was right. When we make a personal judgment we get emotionally attached to a particular outcome. That can be good if things are going well and yet life does not always seem to want to cooperate. When things are not going our way our personal judgments put up blocks or resistance to what is instead of allowing what is to be ok and work for what you would prefer. How do we manage stress? OK, so what do we do instead of making personal judgments? Well we observe without attaching ourselves (judgments are attachments that resist). When we observe something without personal judgment we can prefer and work for another outcome or goal. What is the value of Stress Management? Well, according to the experts, the true value of stress management is really amazing. When our cells leave the fight, flight or freeze syndrome they go into normal or growth mode (the cells open up). When cells are opened they are impervious to sickness or disease. In other words our natural health and healing system works perfectly. The implications can be staggering (put us back in stress) when we think about it. No more getting sick, no headaches, no allergies, no disease - but this is only for those who learn how to use stress management to its fullest potential.
