1. Stated positively in term of what we want.
2. Described in Sensory-Based Language.
3. Self-initiated and self –controlled.
4. Appropriately Contextualized.
5. Maintain Appropriate Secondary Gain.
6. Ecological for the Whole System.

What do I want?

Specifically? State your outcome in the positive. What will be the results? What will having that do for you? You will see hear, feel, smell, taste… When and where specifically?

How can I get it?

All behavior must be within your control. What can and will you do to achieve this outcome? Can you both initiate and maintain the responses needed to reach your outcome? What is your first step to get what you want? How can you get what you need to achieve your outcome? What do you have now and what do you need to get your outcome? Have you ever done this before? Do you know anyone who has done this before? How can you set up your internal behavior in the direction of obtaining your outcome?

When I get my outcome, how will things change?

What have you learned form having this situation in your life? Do you want this outcome all the time, in all places and without limitations? Where, when and with whom do you want this outcome? Will achieving this outcome produce results you or others do not want? How will others be behaving around you when you get this outcome? What would you loose by accomplishing this outcome? Would you have to give up anything that you deem important to have this outcome?

How will I know when I have it?

What will you see, hear feel, smell, taste… that let’s you know you have your outcome? What will happen if you get it? What won’t happen if you get it? What will happen if you don’t get it? What won’t happen if you don’t get it?
